Davey and Goliath

April 6, 2001

Yes that's right. D & G to all you Ontario homies or for those who grew up on the right coast of North America in the seventies.

This tv show was made in the late 1950's and used some pretty spectacular claymation (before it was called claymation) to teach kids strong christian morals and generally make them laugh at Goliath's lethargic tone of voice. I can't get through ten seconds of a video clip nowadays without falling on the floor laughing hysterically.

When searching for footage to complete my Davey and Goliath video collection, I stumbled across this priceless interview with the show's creator, Art Clokey.

Originally published in Animato!, issue 35, and written by Chuck Miller, this article provides a wonderful glimpse into the mind of the man who created the show.

I am in the process of building an extensive library of Davey and Goliath movies.

By the way, all of these movies are Quicktime, so you will need the QT player to view them. It is free at apple.com.
